Somers, Montana

Melinda Gail (Tucker) Jobe Born 1/18/1939 Died 9/12/2025 Melinda “Mo” was born in Inglewood, California. When she was 10 years old the family moved to Covina. We had 10 acres of land with chickens and horses. She and our brother Gilbert enjoyed riding the horses around the south hills and surrounding areas. She attended the schools in the Covina unified district.

She was a song leader her sophomore, junior, and senior year of high school. That was some of the happiest times of her life .

Her first marriage gave her two children, which sadly they both proceeded her in death. She met Jere at a high school reunion and they married in 1973. She finally met the love of her life. They resided in Orange, California until 2004 when they moved to Somers Montana.

They were married for over 50 years. Melinda enjoyed volunteering at the Kalispell Police Dept. After Jere passed she moved to a assisted living facility and found many new friends. She passed on Friday September 12th with her dear friend holding her hand and the chaplin from the police deptreading scripture. A good life had ended.

After graduation, I attended Mt. SAC then Sawyers Business School. I worked as receptionist at my fathers business in L.A., and then as a secretary for a mortgage banking firm in Pasadena until I married in 1960 and started a family. After divorcing in 1971, I worked as receptionist at Hankins Medical Group in Azusa.

I was co-chairman of the 15 year class reunion and received a call from Jere Jobe, who had been on our missing persons list for many years.   We started dating and were married the following year. We combined our two families and during our first years together my principal occupation was as a wife, homemaker and mother to 2 girls and 2 boys whom we managed to bring to adulthood without too many major catastrophes. In April of 2012 we will celebrate 40 years of marriage.

I enjoyed doing volunteer work at Placentia Linda Hospital for 27 years and donating over 8,000 hours of my time to help other people.

Jere and I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel extensively in the South Pacific, Western Europe and the Caribbean. We even made a trip to Russia during the height of the Cold War.

We lived in Orange, CA for 33 years until the congestion got so bad that we decided to relocate. In 2003 we bought a home on Flathead Lake near Glacier National Park in northwest Montana.

I still walk for exercise and I’m doing volunteer work again. This time it is for the Kalispell Police Department. I have met so many wonderful people and enjoy working there very much.
